How to make a Wi-Fi QR code

  1. Enter your network name (SSID) exactly as it appears on your devices — it's case-sensitive.
  2. Pick the security type (WPA/WPA2 for most home and office routers, WEP for very old ones, or None for an open network) and type the password.
  3. Tick "Hidden network" only if your router doesn't broadcast its name.
  4. Add your colors or logo, download a PNG or SVG, and print it near reception, on table cards, or in guest rooms.

Tips for a Wi-Fi code that just works

  • Test the printed code with both an iPhone and an Android camera before putting it up.
  • This is a static code: the password is stored in the code itself. If you change your Wi-Fi password, generate and print a new code.
  • For businesses, use a separate guest network so the code never grants access to your internal devices.

Printing codes on products you sell? A standard QR code can be copied by anyone. Secure QR codes are issued per product and verified live, so copies get flagged.

FAQ

Common questions

No. The built-in camera app on current iPhones and most Android phones recognizes Wi-Fi QR codes and offers to join the network.

Anyone who scans the code can join the network, exactly as if you'd told them the password — so print it only where you'd share the password anyway, and prefer a guest network. The code is generated in your browser; we never see the password.

Choose WPA/WPA2 for almost every modern router. Choose WEP only for very old equipment, and None only for an open network with no password.

The old code stops working, because the password is encoded in the image. Generate a new code with the new password and replace the printout.

Yes. Every QR type, every customization option, and every download format on this page is free, with no account, no payment, and no limit on how many codes you generate.

No. Generation, customization, and every download happen entirely in your browser — the content you type (a Wi-Fi password, a phone number, an address) never reaches our servers. When you download, print, copy, or share a code, we log which QR type was used along with your IP address and browser user agent, for our own usage analytics. Nothing you typed is included.

This free tool generates a standard QR code from whatever you type — anyone can read it with any scanner. Qrauthix's Simple and Secure QR codes are different: they're issued against a real product record and verified live against Qrauthix's database, with Secure QR additionally requiring the Qrauthix mobile app and a one-time challenge, so it never verifies in a plain browser and repeated scans of a copied code get flagged.
